Happy Birthday Rachel!

One day Matt and I went to Bruce and Liz's house to pick up our kids who had been over playing with Jaxon. We had just started chatting when Rachel came in the room with a friend. She sweetly asked her dad for some money. He lovingly smiled at her and started to ask some questions. Why do you need the money? Answer...We are going to the Davis football game. When does it start? Answer...Right now. Have you had any dinner? Answer...We have gum. How are you getting there? Answer...Oh yeah and can we have a ride?

It was so fun to watch Rachel and Bruce interact. I loved the gum part. Rachel is always so quiet when we are around but with her dad she was all charm and smiles! She truly does have him wrapped around her little finger! Oh yeah, Bruce did give her some money and a ride to the game.

Happy Birthday Rachel! I want you to know that I think you are so sweet and beautiful! You are a wonderful young lady and I can't believe how fast you are growing up! Thanks for being my backpacking buddy!

Happy Birthday Nikki!

Happy Birthday Nikkers! This is Matt writing this post for Becky...

I just remember when Nikki was about 5 years old and she really wanted to wear makeup. She kept fighting with her parents to let her wear makeup. Jeff and Tibi finally told her that she could wear makeup when she turned 15. Nikki replied, "I'll be dead by then!"

I'm so happy you made it to 15, and now to whatever age you are now (I can never remember).

Happy Birthday Drew!

Drew has been telling us he is 4 for quite a while, I guess now it is official. Drew is always busy and loves a good adventure. The cousins love to hang out with him as he always seems to find new and interesting things to explore. Camping and boating are always fun as he seems to keep his parents in a constant state of either laughing, crying or screaming. If you ever want to hear a good story just ask Ryan or Holly to talk about Drew.

We are so glad to have Drew in our family and wish him a Happy Four at Last Birthday!

Happy Birthday Wayne!

I love this picture. It describes Wayne pretty well. Take a look... Utah hat and shirt, attentive father, loving husband, and all around fun guy. That's Wayne.

One of my favorite times with Wayne was last summer at Bear Lake. Matt and I went out on his boat with him and his family (lovingly nicknamed the "party boat"). We were completely entertained the whole time! You can tell that they spend a lot of time together as a family and love each other. What more could a parent want?

Happy Birthday Pierce!

This is Matt's favorite picture of Pierce and insisted we use it for his birthday blog. When I asked Matt how old he thought Pierce was his response was older than Devin. I will go one further and say older than Haley and younger than Trevor. Hows that?

Pierce is a gently giant. Maybe he is not giant to everyone but whenever I talk to him I feel really short. I never thought of myself as short until the Scadlock boys came along.

I love the way Pierce treats Devin. He is kind, compassionate and fun. I don't know if Tori will agree on all of the above (just kiddin). We love Pierce and wish him a Happy whatever Birthday!

Happy Mother's Day to my mother.

I love you. Thank you for giving me life. Thanks for putting up with me as I grew up. Thanks for loving me, and always being there for me. Thanks for cooking for me, and teaching me to cook, sew, and clean. I appreciate all you taught me. And now that I am a parent, I appreciate all the things that you did for me.

I especially appreciate now, more than I ever have, your rock solid faith. While growing up I always thought that your prayers were a tad long, but I've come to realize the immense amount of love and caring you have for others, and especially for us.

I know that by the time you raised your third set of kids (myself and Ryan), you were a very experienced parent, and I look back and I am amazed at the amount of patience you had with us. Just as I'm writing this, I was interrupted by my own children as they've broken something else in our house, and I realize I need more patience. I appreciate your example of patience.

Happy Surprise Party to me!

A few weeks ago my good friend called an invited us over to watch the jazz game. I was really happy to hear from her since they moved away and we don't see them very often. Just as we were walking out the door my friend from high school called and asked if I could sub on their soccer team that night.

Talking to these two friends got me thinking about all my high school friends and how we should all get together. While I was expressing my thoughts, Matt kept pacing the floor. Finally he broke down and said "I've been talking to you friends from high school and they are all coming to a surprise party for your birthday." I was like you have not been talking to my friends. Then he started naming my friends that he had been in contact with. I was totally shocked! Here is the result of all his hard work.

My friend Lisa has been one of my best friends since we were 3. Her parents still live around the corner from mine. When Lisa was born she had heart problems and had to have heart surgery. She is a miracle and was not suppose to live. About 3-5 years ago while he parents were serving as a mission president in the Philippines she started to have some heart trouble. She went to the doctor and was told she had to have surgery immediately. Everything went well but since that time she has suffered at least 1 stroke. Her speech is slow and quiet and she is not as loud and "bubbly" as she once was, but she seems to be doing pretty well. She is so precious to me and I can't imagine this world without her. She is truly the most Christ like person I have ever met!

High school friends and their spouses

My neighbor friends, which I pretty much ignored. They said they would be my friend tomorrow and to go enjoy my high school friends. I love these people!

Nancy was our official photographer and all around "make sure everyone is having a good time" party expert.

My good friends Ed and Brenda Pehrson. She baked the cake and Ed decorated it. I have such talented friends. The Pehrsons were my first real estate clients. It was bitter sweet because we sold their house for top dollar in 10 days and got them a brand new house at a great price. The down side, they moved out of our ward and I don't get to see them very often.

Becky is always fun to have around, her sense of humor is so funny, she keeps us all laughing.

I like how she has gone to the effort to recognize everyone in the family on their birthday every year. She is so sweet and thoughtful. She is always taking time to help out her grandma. She got her real estate license about 2 years ago and has made it a part time job while raising her boys. She's a great Mom, every child should have a mom that laughs so easy and sees the humor in the mundane daily things. She is a great decorator and her house is so welcoming. I hope you have the best birthday.
