Happy Birthday Devin!

Hi Everyone, it is Devin's birthday tomorrow!

Our computer is still being repaired, so Becky reminded me to do this birthday post for Devin.

When Devin was born, I was still on my mission in Paraguay. I'm pretty sure that he was born in 1992 (is that right, Brenda?), which would make him 17 years old now.

While I was in Paraguay, news of Devin's birth took weeks to get to me, so I really didn't know what was going on in real-time (no email back in those days). I just remember feeling concerned and helpless upon hearing of the challenges Devin was facing at that time. He was in my prayers at that time, and many times since then.

We all love Devin. Becky and I were talking about him, and she said that when she looks into his eyes all she feels is pure love, not only for him, but emanating from him. He radiates love. He radiates purity and innocence. For me, it is a privilege and an honor to be his uncle.

Over the years, Devin has been a real trooper as he has dealt with numerous injuries and medical issues. He is tough! As he gets older his toughness comes through as he comes to me and grabs my arm and pulls me wherever he wants to go. It's always a special treat to get a love from him, too. I always love to see his enthusiasm and excitement when we get together as a family. It is awesome to see the love he shares with and receives from everyone.

Hey Guys, this is getting embarrassing

The Scadlock Women have the trophies!!! What are the odds of that. I won the football picks after 22 years of trying (longer than Haley has been around). Haley won the basketball trophy last year and will be handing over the trophy to Alyse. This is a monumentous occasion we will post a new picture with Alyse.

We are finished with finding a dress .... paying for a dress (thanks to Jeff for all of the dresses over the years) ..... doing hair (I couldn't do it anyway) .... the flower thing - Stephanie always made me pin it on :) ...... Stephanie went to the senior prom with Christian Taylor (Brian Taylor's son). They had a great time.

Alyse Wins All

In addition to Alyse's birthday wish, she will soon have her name engraved on the coveted March Madness family basketball trophy. It would be nice if she would share her secrets in picking the winners. Happy Birthday - Love Grandma and Grandpa Willard

Happy Birthday Alyse!

We hope Alyse has a very happy birthday tomorrow (April 17th). I have no idea about Alyse's age; I figured she didn't want that information published anyway.

Unfortunately, our computer is being repaired right now, so Becky is unable to create this blog for Alyse's birthday. That means I get to do the post this time. I'm sorry, but since I'm using my work computer, I don't even have any pictures of Alyse. Maybe the rest of the family can help me out by posting some pictures of her. :)

Here are some of my thoughts and impressions about Alyse:

• Very quiet - I don't think I even heard her speak until she and Dain had been dating for about 2 years
• Very nice - she'd never hurt anyone's feelings
• Very easy going - A required quality to marry into this family
• Obviously very special because I've only seen Dain cry once in his life, and that was at their wedding dinner
• A professional at making beautiful children (I say "children" because I figured there's more to come)

We're so pleased to have Alyse as part of the family. I think she has a calming influence on the Great Dain. We don't get to hang out with Dain and Alyse much, so I don't have funny anecdotes to tell about her. If anyone in the family has a funny story to share about Alyse, please come forward and share with the rest of us.

Happy Birthday Jeff!

Jeff is having a "milestone" birthday on Tuesday the 7th. In honor of this birthday I found a poem I would like to dedicate to him. Enjoy.
